Living in Downtown Tampa
Downtown Tampa has transformed over the last decade into one of the most walkable urban cores in Florida. The 2.6-mile Tampa Riverwalk ties together parks, museums, hotels, restaurants and the Water Street district, where new residential towers sit steps from Amalie Arena and the Channel District.
Residents trade yards for amenity-rich condos with pools, gyms and bay views, and many walk or take the free TECO Line streetcar and Pirate Water Taxi instead of driving.

A little history
Tampa grew around Fort Brooke, an 1824 Army post at the mouth of the Hillsborough River. Henry Plant's railroad and his Tampa Bay Hotel (now the University of Tampa's minaret-topped Plant Hall) turned it into a winter destination in the 1890s, and the last 15 years of Riverwalk and Water Street investment have made it a true live-work downtown.
